Turquoise Horizon

h1 Tuesday, February 19th, 2008

This is the beginning of a series called “Horizon Lines.” Prints are currently available in 8″ x 10″ in my Etsy Shop. In trying to find my style, my last painting teacher noticed that I have a tendency to paint a bar of solid color somewhere in my paintings, and suggested that I explore that. This one was fun. I kind of got this image in my head and it just flows from me. I always love a very abstract landscape. I love the simplicity, beauty, and peacefulness. It’s something that I would actually hang in my house. I did this one on an 8 x 10 sheet of 144 lb. Yupo Paper, with premium acrylic paint. It was my first time using the Yupo. It’s pretty interesting.

Crater Lake & My 1st Official Etsy Sale!!!!

h1 Saturday, February 16th, 2008

Me, Jim, and Wiley woke up on this sunny Saturday morning and decided to take a drive to Crater Lake National Park. We had no idea, but when we got there a guide told us that the park had been closed for the past 3 weeks, because of all the snow, and it just re-opened today. Here’s some pictures that Jim took.

Oh yeah, and when we got home I checked my email and saw that I had my official first sale on Etsy!

  • I’ve updated both my “About Alisha” and “Contact” pages, so be sure to check those out and add me on Myspace and Flickr if you have those. (see contact page for my Myspace and Flickr URL’s)

As you may know, I’ve decided to start selling some of my paintings and prints. The news is that I’m now, simultaneously, raising funds and awareness for Project Rescue. (50% of my profits are being donated, see www.ProjectRescue.com for more info) It’s been a long time dream of mine to use my art to help others. I’d like to invite you to visit my store …and I also need your help.

Since opening my shop on Etsy, just eleven days ago, I’ve already received a lot of great feedback and reviews. My work has been featured in eight treasuries and one blog. (refer to this post see what a treasury is) The outlook seems good, but no sales yet. I really need, and would love, all of my readers and friends to help in spreading the word about my this latest venture with my online shop.

Here are some ideas:

  • You can copy and paste this post (or my latest newsletter) and email it to everyone that you think may be interested.
  • Post info or my blog URL on your blogs, Myspace, Facebook, Xanga, etc.
  • Tell your mom, your dog, etc…..you get the idea,… let’s get creative here people.

I’m also inviting everyone to join me on this journey, and get some fun behind the scenes info, by subscribing to my blog, if you haven’t already. Just type your email address in the box on the upper right.
